Bayboro is the Pamlico County
Seat. Named after the Bay River which, although narrow, is
navigable all the way to the town. Bayboro was incorporated
in 1881, but was settled long before that. The oldest
incorporated town in the county, it was the first town to
have municipal water. In 1876 Bayboro became the County
Seat.
Bayboro has a Town Council-Mayor and five commissioners with
staggered terms of office. The current mayor is Paige
Ackiss, and the Town Clerk is Barbara Baker.
